Reserving a kitten is first-come-first-serve. A non-refundable deposit of $200.00 must be paid before a kitten is considered reserved. This can be done, via Zelle, ApplePay or Venmo for convince or other arrangements can be made. If you use Venmo Goods and Services, a 10% fee will be added to cover costs.
We typically will put you on the waitlist if no kittens are available, or if you want a kitten from a certain queen or a certain sex. While the color is important, it is equally important that you also get to know their personality before reserving your kitten. Please Let us know what kitten you are interested in and tell us a little bit about your family, home and experience cats and anything that would help us make a perfect match for you. Please email us at akelaragdolls@gmail.com
We keep our website updated about kitten availability.
You can pick up your kitten between 10-14 weeks of age. They will need to be eating solid foods, using their cat box, and be able to to leave their mom. They also need a clean bill of health from their veterinarian. These are requirements that need to be met so that they are ensured the best start to life that they can get. It also ensures that they have that bonding time with their mother so that other problems don't occur because of being separated from their mother too soon. We want the best quality care for your kitten that it can have. If you need to adjust your pickup time, after these items have been met, please let us know so that we can adjust accordingly.
Your kitten will come with a 2-year health guarantee, including free from the Ragdoll HCM gene, age appropriate vaccinations, complete deworming, Microchipped, small bag of kitten food they are on, a can of the wet food they are on, a few of their favorite toys and a blanket with their mothers scent on it to help them adjust to their new environment and TICA papers upon proof of spay/neuter.
The coat is soft and semi-long with a limited undercoat. They still shed a little and do require brushing once a week, but it is less shedding and matting than other long hair cats. Every animal with hair will shed. Our Ragdolls love to be brushed and even purr while we're doing it. We Also require that you NOT declaw your Ragdoll. They need their claws in case they ever get outside, and that will render them defenseless. However, we clip their nails about once a every week or so and it is quite easy to do so, as they are very docile and always let us clip their nails with ease. We can even show you when get here, if needed. They rarely need a bath. However, if they do need one, they aren't hard to bathe, as our do not claw, or bite while being bathed and are quite use to the water. Some Ragdolls love the water and go out of their way to get in the shower or bath with you. Our queen, Valkyrie loves to bat the water at us, when we are washing the dishes.
Because these cats are amazingly sweet and desire human interaction, the Ragdoll cat would do very well with families and children. They will have been introduced to our other family cats and cavaliers to get them accustomed to other types of animals. However, if you do have other animals, you need to introduce them slowly, for both your kitten as well as your other family pet. This will decrease both stress and tension within the animals.
Most Ragdolls have blue eyes or a shade of blue. If it is not a purebred Ragdoll, it may not have the true, strikingly beautiful blue, that is a characteristic trait of the Ragdoll. They may have green or golden eyes.
Colors: Ragdolls are a blue-eyed, pointed (darker face, legs, tail and ears) cat. come in 8 colors: Seal, Blue, Chocolate, Lilac, Red, Cream Cinnamon or Fawn . They may be Tortie and may have Lynx stripes (Tabby markings).
As a kitten, all ragdolls' color will continue to deepen as the mature until about 4 years of age.
Their colorpoints should be dark points and a lighter color on body with a definite contrast between body and color point.
Mitted: Pointed with white paws (mitts) on front feet, White "boots" on hind feet, white chin and white belly stripe.
Bicolor: White chest, legs, stomach and ruff with an inverted V on the face.
Most will say the lilac is the most rare, followed by the flame point Ragdolls. These colors are very important as they posses a rare set of genes that give these remarkable colors.
We specialize in the lilac and blue currently.
Absolutely not! We love every single kitten and we want what is best for each one. We give them unconditional love from the time they are born and they are apart of our family, until they go home with you! They have 2 of their own cat condos and 3 towers, several litter boxes with natural pellet litter to encourage them to go in them and then they transition to immediate odor control clumping litter which makes clean up a piece of cake, and we make sure each has equal attention and playtime with all of us. We get them use to loud sounds such a vacuum and they have a radio and an Alexa on to get them used to other sounds and music when we are out of the kitten room.
Some say one is better than the other, but it really is your preference. They both are very sweet, loyal and loving members of your family. Both are extremely social and will follow you around and greet you at the door and can even learn to play fetch or sit for a treat. Bot are amazing with children. They are the gentle "giants" of the cat world.
Because they are such a social and gentle breed, the answer is almost always yes. However, you still need to introduce them slowly. Make sure they have a proper amount of time to see and smell your other animals, before close contact happens and always watch their interactions until you feel ok with them being alone together. It is still a kitten's instinct to hiss or cry at first, as it is a "new experience." Just assure them it is ok. They will learn that everyone is a part of the family.
Also, because it is in their instincts, always keep a close eye on your cat with a bird, fish or other small animals, because they may think they are a toy and want to play with it.
After your initial deposit to reserve a kitten, we accept cash, Zelle, Apple Pay or Venmo. We are sorry as we can no longer accept Cashier's Checks, Money Orders, PayPal, or Personal Checks due to fraudulent scams .
Please keep in mind, that if your payment is something other than cash, it needs to be sent at least 2 weeks before delivery/pickup, as other forms of payment must clear the before the kitten will go to their forever home.
Please understand that if you are having your kitten fly, the full amount must be paid prior to the Flight Exam. Please understand all of the time and personal hours we put into the kittens and the personal attention we give each person/family.
It is very easy to meet the kittens. We can do a FaceTime or Zoom phone call with you. This is usually done at around 8 weeks. We can talk sooner if you have any questions.
At this time, we are limiting visits to those who have put a deposit and want to choose the kitten at 8 weeks & after 10 weeks if they are paying cash at pickup only when kittens are ready to come home, to keep our cats and everyone else healthy. Thank you for understanding.
When your kitten has passed the 4 tests to go home, you may come pick them up from our home, or we can meet in a neutral meeting place if discussed beforehand. We also will deliver 10 miles free of charge. Anything extra will need to be discussed and agreed upon, prior to delivery service.
You will need a cat carrier to take it home in, both a food and water bowl and a litter box. It is highly recommended that you have 1 more litter box than the amount of cats that you have. We found this to be extremely true. Also if you have more than one-story, it is recommended you have a litter box for every story your kitten will be allowed on. The same goes for a bigger 1-story house. 1 litter box for each end of the box, unless you have 1 in the middle. Most times kittens need one closer to the area they are in so that they are set up for success. They will also need a scratching post for their scratching needs and they are less expensive at stores such as Walmart, Ross, Big Lots, Amazon, etc. You can also buy a cat tower, condo with the scratching post. Cats love to be up high and if you do not give them their own space they will find high spaces on their own. They like to be able to feel safe and look down on what is happening. (We currently have 2 at the moment for our big cats and 3 for our kittens). They will also need a grooming comb/brush. We highly recommend the self cleaning slicker brush and furminator or the demoting comb. All 3 can be found on Amazon, reasonably priced. We will tell you what kind of kitten food they are on and give you a small bag of it with the name written on it, if you chose to purchase more. Otherwise, you will need to slowly incorporate what you would like to feed them into what they are currently on, so they do not get an upset stomach. Cats love free-flowing water bowl as well. It is a myth cats don't like to drink water. We have 2 X-large water bowls and 4 free-flowing water, as our ragdolls love to drink water.
Also, while it is not required, it is encouraged to have some kind of Cat bed or hiding home for them. They love going here and feel safe. It is very common to find your kitten here, if they are not following you around!
We typically do not like to ship our Ragdolls before 12 weeks as we will not ship a kitten prior to them having their first two sets of vaccinations, and they prefer to be shipped in pairs, so they feel safe. These kittens are still quite tiny, so we are looking out for your kittens health and welfare, as shipping puts an extreme amount of stress on these babies. Especially if there are dogs or other animals on board that will bark, etc.
We can ship within the Continental United States starting at $750. with any major airport. Delivery nanny services are also available, pending airport or other service including if door to door delivery is needed at an additional fee. This fee is usually a few thousand dollar, as they will most likely need to obtain a rental car and hotel on your end as well as the fee for their flight and personal time.
Please see terms for payment, and cancellation policy if this is not paid prior to Flight Exam. There are absolutely no exceptions to this policy. And there are no refunds for the deposit if monies in full are not paid prior to.
All kittens are sold with limited registration (PET ONLY) TICA papers. (You can still show with these papers.) You will need to provide proof from your veterinarian that your kitten has been spayed/neutered before we send/release their TICA papers. Please remember these kitten are NOT allowed to produce any litters or be mated. There are no exceptions. We DO NOT sell breeders.
The price of our Lilacs & Blues is $1,500.
We give these kittens unlimited love and the best quality care available, as we only have a few litters a year. Because of this, you may request to be on our waiting list if you want to have pick of the litter.
If the kitten is ready to leave the house, and you cannot take your kitten, it is $15. a day for boarding fees after 72 hours of purchase, unless arrangements are made prior.
If you surrender the kitten/cat back to us for any reason, then the health guarantee and the contract will be null and void immediately, and all said rights to the kitten shall be forfeited.
A kitten/cat must first undergo a full examination 2 hours prior to re-entering our cattery by a licensed veterinarian and sent to us and we will confirm this with the examining veterinarian to make sure it is healthy before entering our cattery. This is for the safety of the other cats here. We cannot take any risks of the kitten/cat infecting our animals in any way.
After the kitten has been surrendered, we do not allow visiting rights with the kitten, as it will confuse them, as such, we will not place them back into the your care at any point in the future. It is for the welfare of the kitten.
Before We tell you what we use, we need to let you know, that in no way are we affiliates or get paid from or have association from any of the products that we use or recommend. We are recommending them to you, because we as cat owners for several decades now have tried every tried method under the sun, when it comes to our beloved Felines! We not only want what's best for them, but for the environment, and our own health as well as yours!
We Use all natural products for all of our cats. We believe that for the health and safety of our cats, natural is always best!
🐾We Use Feline Pine Starting @ 3 Weeks Old
We start getting the kittens use to having a litter box in their whelping area at 3 weeks old. No, that's no too young! This Cat litter is made of all natural pine and is not only completely safe for moms and babies, but environmentally safe and recyclable as well. We never have to worry about our sweet babies accidentally, getting litter in their mouths and suffocating like the clay-based litters can cause. This litter is super easy to clean and once it has been used, it turns to sod, completely recyclable, and you can just run a quick scoop through this and refresh the litter and your house is pine fresh! No more bad urine smells throughout the house! And no more dust getting in your lungs as you clean their box! Cats and humans alike love it, and it's an all-around win! (We have tried other versions; many other cheaper and more expensive versions of the pine litter from every store to exist, from Farm stores to Exclusive High End Pet Stores, and by far, this is the only one that has done what is says it does, and it doesn't make your house smell awful!)
Starting at 6 weeks, when they are completely litter box trained, we introduce them to World's Best Cat Litter
This is a corn-based cat litter. This is an extremely expensive cat litter, (That is your disclaimer on price. It rarely goes on sale, so an auto-ship is the best method to save money usually) however, like the Pine Pellet Litter, it actually does what it says and is completely safe for kittens. We only use this in automatic self-cleaning litter boxes! We do buy a Stainless steel Bottom. You can find it on Amazon, and it cleans really well! So, That is our secret! Throw away those crystals and their throw away expensive trays (that smell awful after a few day to a week; we know, we tried them all!), and replace that with a reusable one and save yourself hundreds of dollars! Now for years, we did use immediate odor control, clumping litter. The problem? (Yes, there is a huge problem!) When the cats or kitten potty, it clumps. Its supposed to you say! Yes, but we're talking ridiculous size clumps! Wasteful size, smelly clumps! But what could we do? What else was better? We searched, for a long time. The price and type of litter was always pushing us back to the clay-clumping litter, which does work in these boxes, do NOT be fooled! But, alas! One day, we found it! The World's Best Cat Litter! Now of course we skeptical! Who wouldn't be! A corn-based cat litter that didn't waste the cat litter like the clay, that was safe for the kittens, and that was mostly (nothing, is ever dust-free!) dust-free! Oh lets not mention you can either recycle it in the yard waste or FLUSH IT DOWN THE TOILET! No way! So, we bought a bag. The small bag. The one for a household with multi cats. yep! Check! We took it home, put it in the box and waited. Of course Ragdolls, being Ragdolls and the super curious nature of them, they all immediately congregated over to the box to have their turn. Now we can't keep them out of it! They all line up to take their turn, even if they don't have to go. So, we wait, and wait. No smell. We wait longer. Where's that awful smell? It is now 3 1/2 weeks, lots of kitties (yes we empties the tray area), and no smell! Can this be? Another win? So we checked for dust, tracking paw prints and clumps. Very little tracking prints (we had a mat, just in case, but nothing was there), and went to scoop and no dust flew into our lungs, like the clay litter! Check 2! Ok, Clumps, Did they potty, where are the clumps? Ummm. . . ? ? ? No, they did but it only clumped where the urine hit, literally wasting almost no litter! OK, So, the unscented is a win! Let's try the scented. Lavender first. Its a little strong at first but after about 15 minutes of pouring, it's better. It seems to not last as long though with the house not being as NOT smelly. It's good, Not a favorite. Especially for babies because of the strong scent. We try the other flower scent. This time, we decide, it's not strong at all. But the Flip side is you need to add more every 2 weeks to refresh it to keep the house smelling good.
Final Opinion on this Matter: The Unscented Multi Cat is the Definite WINNER! Sometimes adding more, is not alway a great thing. In this case, adding scents, we can do without. We'd rather live in a home that doesn't smell like a cat box! Oh, and the toilet-flushing thing, yep, we tried it! Yes, it flushes! Do we do it all the time? Na. We just thought, well this is a cool feature for someone living in an apartment or condo situation where they can't just readily toss it into yard waste!
So In conclusion. If you don't want to go fancy and have a self-cleaning litter box, get the Feline Pine for a regular box.
Warning: Ragdolls, love this so much they actually play hide in seek in it when its first pours before its been used!
